Elizabethan theatre is set to move into the 21st century, with the release of a new MP3 audio file.

It will allow school pupils to experience the feel of a live performance of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing which included motorbikes, by listening to their iPods.

The file is a recording of a special performance of the play at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. It can be downloaded free from the internet and pupils can listen as many times as they want. It includes interviews with the director and the four actors playing the main characters, giving insights into the decisions they make when rehearsing.

The full production is available from the Department for Education and Skills’s Standards website, which includes a special area on improving the teaching of Shakespeare.
