Enrollment at Grid Club is poor

Even though Grid Club offers an excellent online environment for seven to 11-year-olds, take-up of the service has been poor. Only 5,000 young members have joined, leaving GridClub short of its 200,000 target. Members can join clubs, share pictures and exchange messages.

The site, produced by 4Learning, Intuitive Media and Oracle, claims to be a safe option for young children wanting to spend time online at home. It was launched early last year with pound;6 million funding from the DfES and has three years in which to establish itself. After this, it will need to be self-sustaining through revenue generated from advertising and sales. If membership rates don’t improve it will disappear. Register now.
