Last year a primary school in Singapore, advertising in the TES, offered further information from an Internet website and finished with “applications by e-mail only”. The implication being that if you cannot browse a website and e-mail your CV you aren’t up to teaching their children.

It is interesting to compare that advertisement with those for information technology-related posts in FE Focus (July 25). None of the seven organisations advertising offered a website, one gave an e-mail address.

If my headteacher should read this letter then she may rest assured I was “only browsing”.
