* Epson has developed an even quicker and easier way to print photo-quality images directly from a digital camera. It’s already possible to slot memory cards directly into a printer to bypass a PC. But this system offers little scope to control the printing process. However, Epson’s new USB Direct-Print uses a standard USB connection to link a digital camera to a printer. The camera is then used to control all operations. It’s success will depend on how many companies support USB-Direct, as it uses Epson’s proprietary commands to control camera and printer. www.epson.co.uk
