Schools have only 10 days to send in their pupil essays on “How do we prepare for life after oil?” The January 31 deadline for the TES Scotland competition is drawing near.

The 1,000 word essays can be any combination of scientific, philosophical, geographical, meteorological or political thinking, or follow any other innovative way of approaching the theme. The winning essay will be published in TESS and the winner will receive pound;200, while his or her school will also win pound;200. The winner will be announced at the end of February.
