Produced by the Foundation for Small and Medium Enterprise Development at the University of Durham, this ring-bound resource pack aims to develop students’ understanding of the roles and responsibilities of companies in the community.
There is a wealth of up-to-date case study material drawn from companies such as Marks amp; Spencer, IBM, Esso and ICI and some well thought out student investigations about the impact of IT, the flexible labour market, ethics in advertising takeovers and mergers, environment matters and equal opportunities.
These investigations are supported y source material such as newspaper cuttings, diagrams and company brochures. Student assignments are well designed, and there is a list of aims and objectives and key issues at the start of each section.
The student-friendly nature of the materials undoubtedly owes much to the involvement of teachers. Belmont comprehensive school, Durham, City of Sunderland college, Moorside comprehensive school and Consett are acknowledged to have made vital contributions.
