I note with dismay that Westminster Education Consult-ants, one of the largest and most successful OFSTED contractors in the country, has been bought out, in a pound;5 million deal by Vosper Thornycroft Holdings, a leading manufacturer of arms and supplier of “services” to defence industries in various parts of the world. Dodgy or what?

I hope that OFSTED inspectors and aspiring inspectors, will now think carefully about working for a consultancy firm that enjoys such backing.

I hope, too, that other education professionals using the consultant firm’s other services will question their involvement with it, and that teachers in schools might object on ethical grounds to being inspected by an OFSTED team that, however indirectly, is supported by a major military business.
