Ethics of betting

I am amazed by your article encouraging teachers to buy a greyhound to race (TES magazine, June 8). The world of greyhound racing is presented as thrilling and enjoyable but with no alternative views. Indeed, the article is in the “wealthy teacher” series. There is no discussion about the ethics of the junior school that owned a syndicate, just the practicalities. With the ease of the internet tempting people in, many have gambled away their homes and savings, leaving them and their families in misery. It would have been more balanced if you had at least hinted at this in an article aimed at teachers.
