Ethnic minority recruitment worries

MORE would-be teachers from ethnic minorities are failing to get postgraduate training places - despite a recruitment drive to attract them to the profession.

The proportion of black applicants who failed to get places n postgraduate certificate in education courses rose from 53 per cent in 1997 to 58 per cent last year. The proportion of unplaced white candidates dropped over this time.
