Eton’s top dog calls for change

The head of Eton College is calling for GCSEs to be scrapped in favour of a basic school-leaving certificate in a limited number of subjects. The move would allow schools to offer pupils more appropriate courses that help prepare them for work, said Anthony Little. But the barrier to change was that universities use GCSEs to help decide admissions, he said.
