Scotland had four school pupils involved in Great Britain’s winning five-strong team which took part in an international competition in Patra, Greece, to mark the European Year of Education Through Sport. The competition saw schoolchildren aged 16-17 from 27 countries take part in swimming and athletics.

In a unique concept, the pupils had to compete not only in their own sport but also in one event from another sport. Hurdler Eilidh Child (Kinross High) had personal bests in the 100 metres and the long jump. The other Scots taking part were Nathan Lamond (Glenwood HS), Judith Kilgallon (Dundee HS) and St Michael’s Academy (Kilwinning).

The British came out top overall with 104 points, ahead of second-placed Ireland and Finland in third.
