RICHARD AND MARIA COSWAY: REGENCY ARTISTS OF TASTE AND FASHION
Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, St Martin’s Place, London WC2, which includes Richard Cosway’s jewel-encrusted miniatures of the Prince Regent and his circle, elegant portraits of Capability Brown, Emma Hamilton and the Duke of Wellington, and drawings by Holbein, Rubens and Watteau. THE LIFE, TIMES AND DEATH OF HOREMKENESI: THE BRISTOL MUMMY PROJECT Horemkenesi lived and worked as a civil servant and priest in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings nearly 3,000 years ago. This exhibition at Bristol City Museum presents the results of the work done on his unwrapped mummy by the Bristol Mummy Project and the British Museum and explains what it revealed about his life, medical history (poor teeth and aching joints), death and burial. HOME AND AWAY: INTERNATIONALISM AND BRITISH ART 1990-1995
Exhibition at the Tate Gallery, Liverpool, which explores how artistic developments in Britain have been influenced by the travels of artists abroad and by the presence of foreign artists. Includes works by Walter Sickert, Jacob Epstein, Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, Stanley Spencer, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Eduardo Paolozzi, Francis Bacon, David Hockney, Lucian Freud and Gilbert and George.
