“Sound FX - making music with technology” is the subject of the Institution of Electrical Engineers Faraday lecture 2004 for students aged 14-16.

Presented by York University, the one-hour interactive presentation with accompanying teacher worksheets will be held in Crawley, Harrogate, Manchester, Bristol, London, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham and York between now and March. Discover what happens in the recording studio and get on stage to explore new ways of playing electronic musical instruments.

The Oxfordshire Science Festival takes place January 24-February 8. Events, many of which are free, include: The visions of science photographic awards exhibition at Banbury Museum and the Oxfordshire Museum, Woodstock; the Oxfordshire primary science teacher of the year at the Oxfordshire Playhouse; schools workshops; science courses for the public; competitions; concept cartoons workshop for KS2-3 teachers; plate tectonics workshop for KS4 teachers; Curioxity hands-on science exhibition open day; county science day for KS3; and many family activities including family science Sunday, February 8.

Science and its importance to our lives will be celebrated during National Science Week, March 12-21, with festivals, talks, chances to conduct experiments, school trips, visits to businesses and many other events.
