Events run by the National Archives, Kew, Surrey include lectures, conferences and the “Behind the Scenes: 100 miles in 60 minutes” tour (the archive contains 100 miles of shelving). Forthcoming exhibitions include “The Secret State”, April 2-August 14, which will explore the extent of Britain’s preparations for nuclear attack during the Cold War. Recently released documents will reveal how secrets were betrayed to the Russians and whether the Prime Minister would have unleashed the V-bombers against Russia following a missile assault.
