Make a Difference Day, the UK’s biggest day of volunteering in the community, is on October 30. Supported by Barclays community investment programme, it can be used to develop a citizenship project, eg replanting school gardens, learning about the cultures of different people in the area and tackling bullying. Free packs for key stages 1-4 have been produced by Childline (topics such as bullying and friendship at KS2); WaterAid (global issues for the literacy hour at KS2); Save the Children UK (co-operation and conflict resolution for KS1-4); Christian Aid (topics such as the effects of natural disaster in El Salvador at KS1-4).
