CSV(community service volunteers) expects more than 100,000 people to take part in its annual Make a Difference Day on October 29. Free resources are available, supported by Barclays community investment programme, to help schools begin a citizenship project or develop volunteering opportunities. Primary packs include: Christian Aid’s Water for Life and Water Game; secondary packs: H2kn0w; Save the Children’s Revolution (about young people’s recovery from the tsunami); and First Light’s Film and Citizenship.

For One World Week, October 23-30, join thousands of others in making promises to make a meaningful difference in the world and in your community and to live more responsibly. The accompanying action kit, with drama activities, projects, stories and suggestions, can be used throughout the year.

The next “Day for Change”, an annual schools’ fundraising and awareness day organised by Unicef UK, is on February 3. It will focus on health and immunisation projects in Madagascar and Niger. A free resource pack is available.
