Nowt to do with Paris

Hilton Rediscovered is an exhibition which has nothing at all to do with the blond-haired celebrity of that ilk - Paris - but a display of "edgy" black-and-white photographs of Hilton in Inverness, taken by a group of young people who live there.

The show, in the new Community Gallery at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, comes at the end of a project which invited young people, aged 11-16, to "capture" their part of the city through the lens of a camera.

The group received practical and creative guidance from two professional photographers and were invited to submit just one black-and-white print for inclusion in the show, which runs until December 14.

A rugby tournament has been re-launched in Angus schools this month after a 20-year absence, giving more than 100 youngsters the chance to play regularly.

Strathmore Rugby Club is hosting games on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4.30-7pm, for S3-4 and S1-2 pupils respectively.

Schools that have not been able to raise teams on their own have set up composite teams and Arbroath High, Arbroath Academy, Webster's High and Forfar Academy are heavily involved.

Brechin, Carnoustie, Monifieth and Montrose have entered teams and Kenny Christie, Angus's rugby development officer, is enthusiastic. "In recent years, there has been little rugby played, due to a lack of infrastructure within the schools, and poor relations between local clubs and schools," he says.

"Now, they are working more closely to ensure that there are volunteers available and willing to assist school staff in the delivery of extra-curricular activity. The tournament aims to make school rugby vibrant again."

The resurgence in the game is expected to lead to more Angus school teams entering the Bell Lawrie Schools Cup competitions next year.
