APRIL 20-MAY 27 TIERRA DE TEMPESTADES: LAND OF TEMPESTS New art from Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery reflecting all aspects of life, from celebration and humour to suffering and violence. Luiz Gonzalez Palma’s sepia photographs of the Mayan people, for example, are a memorial to the thousands of Indians who have disappeared under the Guatemalan dictatorship.

APRIL 27 AND JULY 6 ROCHESTER GRAMMAR SCHOOL FOR GIRLS APPEAL A Scottish evening (7.30 pm start, tickets Pounds 2 adults, Pounds 1 children, under-fives free) and a summer ball, (6.45 for 7.30 pm, tickets Pounds 15, Pounds 7. 50 to RGS students in Years 12 and 13) have been organised by the Rochester Grammar School Association to raise money for a performing arts block building. APRIL 28-MAY 4 NATIONAL DEAF CHILDREN’S WEEK The National Deaf Children’s Society has organised a number of events for the week culminating in a festival of performing arts at the Unicorn Arts Theatre, London W1.
