PIECES FROM THE PAST

Lunchtime lectures about recent excavations around London Bridge Station and Borough High Street for the Jubilee line extension project will be held at the Museum of London, London Wall, EC2, 1.10pm. A small display of recent finds will be in the museum’s entrance hall, November 18-December 16, including a second-century amphora from France and Roman pottery and glassware. NEW MOVES IN AFRICAN DANCE

Bode Lawal and the Sakoba Dance Company are performing a new programme at the Purcell Room, South Bank, London SE1. Pieces include: “Travelling”, in which live djembe drumming accompanies Bode Lawal in his exploration of the twists and turns of life’s journey, and “JunkJunkie”, in which the dancers use the imagery of drug addiction and live contemporary percussion to portray a throwaway society. A MATTER OF OPINION

Twenty groups of children and young people from northern England are running workshops and making presentations about Article 12 of the UN Convention, which states they have a right to have their opinions taken seriously by adults when decisions are being made.
