A display of words and images by Lawrence Thomason at Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery, Lancashire. The artist works with poetry, particularly the Japanese haiku verse form, textiles, glass and photographs to create an environment that explores his experiences and points of personal growth and change. UNTIL APRIL 13 “BLUE AND WHITE”: THE BIRTH OF WORCESTER PORCELAIN
This exhibition at Chepstow Museum, Gwent. is based on material found during excavations at the Worcester Factory carried out by Henry Sandon of Antiques Roadshow fame. Supporting key stage 1-4 workshops at the Drill Hall will cover the “evolution” of pottery from Roman times, pottery decoration and technology, fee Pounds 1.50 (includes a visit to the exhibition). UNTIL APRIL 25 BIOMEDICAL IMAGE AWARDS
A display in the Two10 Gallery, Wellcome Centre, Euston Road, London NW1, of 18 of the best microscopic images acquired by the Centre’s photographic library. Techniques represented include light microscope and macro photography, showing individual embryos and the skeletal structures of foetuses, and scanning electron and confocal micrographs, displaying features as small as an individual cell with its dividing nucleus. FEBRUARY 15-MARCH 22 NETWORKING: ART BY POST AND FAX
This Hayward Gallery touring exhibition, opening at the Spacex Gallery, Exeter, showcases the +witty, irreverent, urgent and political work of 40 international artists. These include David Hockney, who faxes as a parallel activity to his painting, the “currency forger” Cildo Meireles, and “celebrity stalker” Jessica Voorsanger. Over the next 15 months the exhibition will visit Worcester, Dunstable, Reading, Motherwell and Wishaw, Wakefield, Belfast and Bexley. Details: 0171 921 0837.
