WATERY WORDS EXHIBITION

Watery poems featured on beautiful paper artworks, hand-made by pupils from two schools working with adults from two day centres are on display at the South Bank’s Poetry Library, SE1. OBJECTS OF DESIRE:THE MODERN STILL LIFE

This exhibition from the Museum of Modern Art, New York, is visiting the Hayward Gallery, South Bank, London SE1. It traces the evolving language of modern art through the still life. Highlights include: Man Ray’s spike-covered iron, Matisse’s Goldfish and Palette, Meret Oppenheim’s fur-covered teacup and saucer, a white Lobster Telephone by Salvador Dali and Brillo Boxes by Andy Warhol. MACBETH

Pete Postlethwaite takes the title role in this new production of Shakespeare’s tragic masterpiece directed by George Costigan at Bristol Old Vic. Theresa Steiner, a Viennese Jew, came to Britain in the 1930s and was living in Guernsey when the Nazis invaded. This dance theatre work at the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, London SE1 (11am-12.15pm), recreates her experiences and is suitable for Years 9, 10 and 11.
