ROMAN DAY

Mosaic making, bread baking, basket weaving, storytelling and coin punching are among the activities being staged for Young Friends of the British Museum at the BM, Great Russell Street, London WC1, 10.30am-1pm. WILDLIFE WEEK

People and wildlife cannot exist without water, which is why Wildlife Watch, the junior branch of The Wildlife Trusts, wants young people to join its “Water for Life” campaign. Watery activities on offer include pond and water surveys, canal clean-ups, dragonfly spots and the chance to build an otter holt. ONE WORLD ONE GOAL

For ActionAid Week, which coincides with the World Cup, Dion Dublin, the Coventry and England footballer, is encouraging young people to “score a winning goal for peace”. He is supporting the free One World One Goal Penalty Challenge pack for teachers and youth leaders, which contains a competition to win a football signed by the England squad. The pack demonstrates how football can bring young people together in developing countries divided by conflict and contains ideas for involving local football clubs and celebrities in a fund-raising penalty shoot-out.
