JUNE 8-18, JUNE 23-28 DEGREE SHOWS The first exhibition, the Leeds 13 fine arts show, is at West Riding House, Albion Street, Leeds. Details: 0113 233 4031. JUNE 14 QUIET EVOLUTION PROJECT A model of arts education operating in the United States will be demonstrated and debated at this free Royal Society of Arts event at 8 John Adam Street, London WC2, 6.30-7.30pm. FROM JUNE 15 INFORMATION EVENINGS The University of Wales College, Newport, is open between 4.30-7.30pm on June 15, July 13, August 10, September 7, 14, 21 and 28 to anyone interested in part-time higher education. Check out accounting, business and management, information technology, health and social care and engineering at Allt-yr-yn campus and, at Caerleon, art and design, education and training, photography, humanities and science, and teacher development. JUNE 19-20 YOUR HEALTH SHOW Put on your dancing shoes for classes run by trained teachers at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London N1. JUNE 19-27 KENTWEEK FESTIVAL Street theatre in seven towns, Shakespeare plays in Mount Ephraim, Faversham, and Hever Castle, a Dickens festival in Broadstairs, walks and sporting activities are among the 300-odd events on the programme. A schools festival will feature workshops, performances and outings on environmental themes ranging from countryside issues and recycling to children’s own personal environment, including safety and bullying. JUNE 21-25 CHILD SAFETY WEEK The Child Accident Prevention Trust is encouraging local organisations to identify zones where children face safety hazards and identify what measures to take to make them accident-free. A free resource pack on how to set up “safety action zones” and outlining nationwide events is available from CAPT on 0171 608 3828.

JUNE 22 “WHERE DO BABIES COME FROM?” WHAT MAKES CHILDREN LEARN Lecture by Hamish Canham, child and adolescent psychotherapist, at the Tavistock Clinic, 120 Belsize Lane, London NW3, 7pm.
