BLUEBEARD’S CASTLE

The Philharmonia Orchestra is performing Bart“k’s famous work in the Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, London SE1, 7.30pm. The performance is linked to a major education project, through which students, working with a director and players from the Philharmonia, will create a Bluebeard’s Castle in the RFH foyer and give free performances around the main concert. PHOTOS AND PHANTASM: HARRY JOHNSTON IN THE CARIBBEAN

These 70 images, taken between 1908-1909 by geographer, explorer and colonial official, Sir Harry Johnston and on display at the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7, have until now languished unseen at the RGS as fragile glass plate negatives.
