VSO OPEN DAY.

Meet returned volunteers and find out about teaching opportunities with Voluntary Service Overseas at Austin Court, 80 Cambridge Street, Birmingham, 10am-4pm. OLIVER CROMWELL DAY.

On the 400th anniversary of Oliver Cromwell’s birth, the National Army Museum, Chelsea, London SW3, has organised talks, readings from contemporary accounts, re-enactment, film and the opportunity to handle artefacts relating to the experience of soldiering during the Civil Wars of Britain. SAVE THE CHILDREN FROM VIOLENCE.

To launch its campaign to end the use of an estimated 300,000 child soldiers, some as young as seven, Save the Children is asking secondary schools to hold a one-minute silence at 9.15am. The campaign forms part of Save the Children Week running until May 1.
