SPRING tour: STIFF!

Forbes Masson’s new Scottish musical, now at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, is going on tour to macRobert, Stirling; Dundee Rep; and the King’s Theatre, Glasgow. The accompanying educational programme run by Diva Productions, includes open workshops on “how to create a musical in a day”, “teach ins” for secondary students and post-show discussions. UNTIL APRIL 18 THE SILVERLAKE

Impressionist, satirist, German speaker and opera-lover, Rory Bremner, has written a new translation of Kurt Weill’s rarely-performed opera, The Silverlake, a scathing satire on the lottery and get-rich-quick culture. It is being staged by Broomhill Opera at Wilton’s Music Hall in Tower Hamlets, east London, “the world’s oldest surviving music hall”, Wednesdays to Saturdays, 7.30pm; Sundays, 3pm. UNTIL MAY 8 MIRO: THE CONSTELLATIONS

These rare prints with poems by the Surrealist writer Andre Breton are considered among Mir”‘s greatest works. Created in the 1940s, they are on show at the Whitstable Art Gallery in Kent. Details: 01227 276998.

UNTIL SEPTEMBER 5 BALLET EXHIBITION

Fifty photographs taken by Henry Reichhold behind the scenes at English National Ballet during a two-year study of the company’s auditions and dress rehearsals are on show at the Theatre Museum, Covent Garden. APRIL 3 MUSIC FROM BROADWAY

APRIL 5 CHAUCER COMMEMORATION SERVICE

APRIL 7 TWO HUNDRED YEARS OF ELECTRICITY

This commemorative meeting at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, 21 Albemarle Street, London W1, marks the 200th anniversary of the discoveries of Volta, Sir Humphrey Davy and Michael Faraday in the field of electrical science. Topics will include the work of Volta and Faraday, the development of electric lighting, the electric illumination of lighthouses and the troubled history of the household electric meter.
