JUNE 6-10: EDUCATION ON THE HOOF

Travellers will be converging on the 250-year-old Appleby Horse Fair in Westmorland, Cumbria, and representatives from 18 local education authority traveller services are manning an education stand providing information and activities for traveller children. The team is also running courses for teachers and interested professionals to raise awareness and alert them to traveller education resources. Details: Linda Walker, 01606 557328.

Displays in several subject areas and sessions on tuition fees and adult education will be on offer to prospective students at Goldsmiths College, London SE14. JUNE 16: APPEAL: 1997 A-LEVEL ENGLISH LITERATURE

The Independent Appeals Authority for School Examinations will hear this appeal at Newcombe House, 45 Notting Hill Gate, London W11, at 10am.

JUNE 18: FOUR PILLARS OF A WORLD CLASS EDUCATION SERVICE

Lecture by Professor Michael Barber of the Standards and Effectiveness Unit, Department for Education and Employment, with a response by Charles Handy. JUNE 20: DAMIAN LUNDY MEMORIAL LECTURE
