Maths resources stood out in the Education Resources Awards 2000, organised by Nexus Media Ltd and the British Educational Supplies Association (BESA), announced at the Education Show in March. Winners included: l The Number Crew from Channel 4,an educational television programme on maths for children in Years 1 and 2, with support materials such as CD-ROMs, websites and activity books. l A head-operated mouse from Semerc for people who cannot use their hands.l ICT in Primary Numeracy from Bolton Curriculum ICT Centre, a booklet showing how to use ICT in the daily maths lesson. l Lego Soft, an oversized and softer version of oriinal Lego bricks for those with motor skill deficiencies, from Lego Dacta UK. l Ten Little Fingers from LDA, a new resource offering easy-to-use rhyming materials for the very young. l Maths Big Board and Materials from Novara plcNES Arnold.

Moat Farm junior school in Sandwell, identified as one of the 100 best schools by OFSTED, was named educational establishment of the year, “despite difficult social circumstances”.

The awards are sponsored by GLS Dudley, Novara Group, Sanford UK, Select Education, Staedtler and The Times Educational Supplement and supported by the National Association of Head Teachers.
