St Peter’s school in Northampton is applying for emergency powers to remove nearly 100 travellers who moved on to the school fields two weeks ago. St Peter’s decided it could not wait for the normal eviction process after a speeding car scattered children playing on the school pitches.
The head, Gerald Smith, said: “It would take nearly two weeks to evict them. When children are at risk it is important that swift action can be taken.”
