YOUR article “Students doubt evolution” (TES, July 14) highlights the problem that faces science today.
Over the years, teachers and pupils have been told to believe only in those things that can be proved: that there is no place for irrational beliefs based on “faith”.
Yet, scientists like Dr Downie fail to live up to their own standards,as there is at least as much concrete evidence for creationism as there is for evolution.
Contrary to popular opinion, evolution is only a theory that has not been proven fully - and there is as much faith involved in evolution as there is in creationism.
