Pupils could be damaging their education by sitting their exams at too young an age, according to the head of the largest exam board in England. Andrew Hall, chief executive of the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance, said reports from examiners on this summer’s GCSEs commented on “relative immaturity” in answers and a “lack of depth and understanding”. The exam body has already begun to research the effects of early entry.
