House prices are more than pound;25,000 higher in areas where schools achieve good GCSE results, a survey has revealed.
Research conducted by the Halifax building society found that house prices were 12 per cent, or pound;25,100, higher in the 20 local authorities with the highest proportion of pupils achieving five C grades or better at GCSE in 2004.
In the top 50 high-achieving authorities, houses sold at 15 per cent above their region’s average price.
