The export potential of Scottish education has been recognised with the setting up of a Scottish Education and Training Export Group (SETEG).
Launching the SETEG in Glasgow last week, the Scottish Office Industry Minister George Kynoch said overseas earnings generated by educational courses and contracts in 1994 totalled more than Pounds 140 million.
Half that sum was spent by the 11,000 foreign students attending Scottish colleges and universities.
The group is chaired by Sir Graeme Davies, principal of Glasgow University.
