A-level students will be able to demonstrate research and presentation skills in a new form of coursework, set to be introduced from 2008.

Teenagers will choose the subject of the extended project, spend 180 hours researching it, then demonstrate their ideas to their teacher, according to a consultation paper published yesterday. It has not yet been decided if the project will be part of individual A-levels or a stand-alone qualification. More details at www.qca.org.uk.
