Teenagers from across Scotland are to tell MSPs which issues should be international development priorities.

Fifth and sixth year pupils from seven schools will set out their views at Holyrood next month in a conference organised by the Scottish Parliament’s European and external relations committee.

Issues to be considered include: which countries and regions should the European Union, UK and Scotland prioritise when giving development aid? What are the main issues they should try to address? What is the point of a development policy? How can awareness of international development issues be raised? How can young Scots make a difference?

The conference will be held on May 9, Europe Day, which marks the anniversary of the first move in 1950 towards the creation of what is now the EU. The Scotland offices of the European Parliament, the European Commission and the British Council are all involved.
