(Photograph) - Face of inclusion: Debbie Taylor is one of 19 home-school link officers in Fife who work with every secondary and their associated primaries, in her case the Auchmuty High area in Glenrothes. They support parents and try to nip in the bud any attendance problems.

The council believes she and her colleagues are one of the reasons why Fife has recorded its lowest level of unauthorised absenteeism for five years.

The home-school link initiative and other educational measures to support parents across Scotland will receive another pound;3 million next year from the Executive, and it is one of the battery of projects which ministers hope will make a reality of its inclusion policies.

The inspectorate released a new report on inclusion this week.
