An OFSTED report into the first two years of the pilot qualification in business, health and social care, and manufacturing said “weak and insufficient” areas must be addressed if Government plans to widen the GNVQ scheme go ahead.
The report found that the three mandatory key skills of communication, application of number and information technology were weak in about half the schools offering the qualification. However, the greatest cause for concern was on manufacturing courses - 45 per cent of manufacturing work at foundation level was poor or unsatisfactory.
