Children who watched Grasshopper Island on ITV in the 1970s can now buy the series on DVD for their own children. This much-loved modern fairytale for under 10s by Joy Whitby features three brothers who escape to the perfect place, only to find difficulties they didn’t anticipate. The same company produces Mouse and Mole, a collection of 10 five-minute animated films for children over the age of three. The odd couple in the stories resolve their problems with quiet wisdom, while the voices of Alan Bennett and Richard Briers add to teachers’ and parents’
pleasure. Grasshopper Island (DVD pound;16.99) and Mouse and Mole (video pound;12.99) are available from Grasshopper Productions.
