Faith schools should be forced to stop discriminating against children from other backgrounds or have their state funding cut, teachers’ leaders said.

The Association of Teachers and Lecturers said it was hard to justify spending taxpayers’ money on religious schools which discriminate against most staff and pupils when society is increasingly secular.
