He sees enhanced academies acting as new all-purpose education providers replacing education authorities, and enthuses about what could be done if “schools have the freedom to fund what the local community sees as a priority”.
However, he fails to explain how he, as principal of such an unconstrained institution, would be qualified to determine the community’s priorities.
He is also silent on the need for accountability to taxpayers on the spending of our money.
Holding universal suffrage elections may be an old-fashioned approach to these questions but offering some credible alternative might prevent him coming across as quite so much of an egotist.
