Peter Wilby finally puts into print what we have been shouting at newspapers for years (“Do they mean us?” TES, July 28). In the West Country, it is common for middle-class children to attend full spectrum comprehensives, where amazingly they do not become crack addicts in large numbers but instead score top grade GCSEs and A-levels at exactly the same rate as their privately-educated peers. Outside the media village and major cities, this surprises no one.
