A MINOR ADJUSTMENT. By Andy Merriman. Pan pound;6.99.

Jackie Harrop on recent books for teachers and parents

An emotionally charged, honest and very readable account of a family’s struggle to adjust when a daughter was born with Down’s Syndrome. Through his story, Merriman also provides a great deal of valuable information about the syndrome and support systems. Excellent for helping professionals to understand the variations between individual children with Downs and the challenges their families face. Few will read it without tears.
