You can take the teacher out of the classroom but you can’t take the classroom out of the teacher.

When a teacher of history and modern studies at St Paul’s High in Glasgow took a group of third-year students to the recent school meals seminar, he provided the assembled delegates with some graphic visual aids.

One of his young charges had been supplied with a packed lunch for the day out consisting of a packet of crisps, a carton of sugary fruit juice and a packet of sandwiches.

The sandwich container was, however, empty. The contents had literally reached their sell-by date so the young lad was taking no chances and had eaten them well before lunchtime.
