New research suggests that adopted children keep quiet about their backgrounds because they fear bullies. A third of 42 youngsters questioned by the British Agencies for Fostering and Adoption said they had been bullied because they were adopted. One said: “If you tell them (you are adopted), nobody will respect you.” Only four had told all their friends they were adopted.
