Feast of football

The Year 2 class at St Matthias CE primary in the London borough of Hackney can give themselves a pat on the back and enjoy a fabulous fair trade treat of Dubble chocolate bars and a match-quality football from Fair Deal Trading. Their teacher, Emma Charters, tells us that one of the boys in her class is autistic, and is learning to speak. Despite the difficulties in communication, the rest of the pupils look after him and encourage him.

Last week, the boy said “yes”, and the rest of the class burst into spontaneous applause. Ms Charters says she is proud of every one of them - and rightly so.

Does your class play fair? If so, email friday@tes.co. uk to tell us why, and they could receive a box of Dubble bars and a Fair Deal football. The chocolate comes from a Ghanaian collective and the football is hand-stitched by adults in Pakistan, helping to end the widespread abuse of child labour. Mark your message Dubblefootball offer. For information on fair trade go to: www.dubble.co.uk; www.fairdealtrading.co.uk.
