Feast of women’s history

At least half of your pupils ought to have an added incentive for history lessons in March - it’s Women’s History Month. Maybe it’s a US invention as most of the web sources are over there - you can check a directory at Excite (below) for a range, or a search on Google should help. Great women, stirring stories and inspiring poetry abound. Schools that use Microsoft’s Encarta reference product will be interested in special pages prepared for them (they are available to the rest of us too), including a piece on Ida B Wells-Barnett, who preceded Rosa Parks by nearly 100 years in standing up to racism with a simple, public refusal.
