The Assembly government is investigating whether to introduce new rules for federalising schools. The current law is rigid, and making it more flexible could mean more options for councils as they reorganise schools over falling pupil rolls. Plaid Cymru-run Gwynedd council said this week it would be postponing plans to federalise 55 primary schools, which would mean placing many under one headteacher, to see if there would be a change in the law.
