Although 60 per cent of all college staff work part-time, this falls to just 27 per cent of middle managers and 9.6 per cent of senior managers; the female-to-male ratio for senior managers is 45:55, compared to 64:36 for the overall workforce. Mary Joyce of Lifelong Learning UK said: “The insufficient number of senior positions available on a part-time, job-share basis within the FE sector is preventing more women from applying for these roles.”
