LESS than a third of schools routinely screen pupils for dyslexia, and more than two-thirds have never had a training day on the disorder, a survey conducted by MPs says. One in 10 pupils is affected by dyslexia and the failure to identify the condiion early in a child’s school career is believed to be a major cause of underachievement. Ministers have announced pound;25 million for improving diagnosis of special needs among pre-school children - but the money is not available to schools.
