It is a shame that teachers are taking such a battering. It has always been there, but I cannot remember a period when it was so bad and so sustained. I am not stupid enough to think we are perfect. Far from it. I have picked up the pieces of too many poor education experiences belonging to students who have ended up being taught in English prisons.
It appears that the politicians are attacking the teaching profession to direct attention away from the fact that social deprivation plays such a large part in students failing to achieve.
